Claflin Face Coker at Home Wednesday

Orangeburg, S.C.--The Claflin University baseball team will host Coker College in an NCAA Division II non-conference doubleheader Wednesday (March 29) at Historic Mirmow Field.
 
First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. with the second game to follow approximately 20 minutes later.
 
Claflin will enter the mid-week games fresh off a 2-1 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) series win over Morehouse College. In the series, the Panthers scored a total of 29 run, 15 coming in the opener, and pounded out 30 hits. Claflin is now 8-19 overall.
 
Coker will bring a 16-11 record into the twin bill following a 2-1 South Atlantic Conference series loss to Wingate.
 
In last season meetings, Coker won the doubleheader in Hartsville, 9-4 and 10-5.
 
The two teams are pretty evenly matched offensively with Coker hitting .280 and Claflin at .276 for the season.
 
Coker has hit 11 home runs and scored 159 runs compared to eight homers and 159 runs for Claflin.
 
Coker is led by AJ Strnad  with five home runs, 18 RBIs, 32 hits to go with a .308 batting averaging.
 
Darrell Langston, who hitting .359, leads the team in home runs with three, RBIs at 18 and 34 hits.
 
The largest runs output this season for Coker came against Barton College (Feb. 28) of 22 runs, while Claflin produced 17 runs twice. The Panthers accomplished the feat against Bluefield College (Feb. 25) and Saint's Augustine (Feb. 12).
 
Coker has two pitchers with four wins, Forrest Arnold (4-0) and Darius Coldiron (4-2).
 
Keamond Eison tops the Claflin pitching staff with two wins, while six other pitchers have one victory each.
 
After the contest with Coker, the Panthers will return to SIAC competition at Paine College in a three-game series. There will be a doubleheader Saturday (April 1) followed by a single game on Sunday (April 2).
