Odou Hazel earned four medals, two individual-two team, at the 2018 SIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships

Claflin Men Finish 4th in the SIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships

Albany, Ga. (Apr. 20-22) —The Claflin University men's track and field team scored 72 points en route to placing fourth this past weekend at the 2018 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

The Championships were held in Albany, Ga., this past Friday-Sunday, Apr. 20-22. All field events were contested on the campus of Albany State University while Hugh Mills Stadium hosted all running events.

Senior Odou Hazel earned four medals, two individual-two team, on the day to pace the Panther men. Hazel earned an individual silver medal in the 400 meter dash (48.25) and individual bronze medal in the 200 meter dash (22.17). He earned a team gold and team silver as a member of the 4x400 meter relay team and 4x100 meter relay team, respectively.

The men's 4x400 meter relay team consisting of Joshua Bell, Domenic Samuel, Hazel, and You'Shi Kirkland ran a 3:4.21 en route to capturing the gold. The 4x100 meter relay (Hazel, Bell, Kirkland, Davion McKnight) clocked a 41.81 for its second place finish.

McKnight added two individual medals, a silver in the 200 (21.97) and a bronze in the 100 meters (22.17), to his team silver, to finish with three medals on the day.

Darius Davis and Christopher Johnson also reach the podium placing second in the pole vault (3.20 meters) and third in the high jump (1.90 meters), respectively.

Bell also scored points in 110 meter and 400 meter hurdles, finishing in sixth place in both events.

Isaiah Millhouse rounded out the scorers for Claflin, placing seventh in the hammer throw with a distance of 26.06 meters.
