Trevin Goodwin

Trevin Q. Goodwin joined the Claflin University athletics staff in the fall of 2021. He came to Claflin University after 14 years at Winston-Salem State University. With an expert knowledge of the field of athletic media relations and a strong understanding of both the national and local media landscape, Goodwin is poised to lead the Panthers and Lady Panthers’ media relations efforts into the future.
 
Prior to joining the staff at Claflin University, Goodwin was a member of the Winston-Salem State University Department of Athletics for 14 years, including spending six years as the Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations. During his time at Winston-Salem State University, Goodwin was a part of numerous premiere events with the Rams, including the 2012 run to the NCAA Division II Football Championship game, hosting the 2012 NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Baseball Tournament, hosting the 2011 Chris Paul CP3 All-Star Game, and hosting the 2013 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships. During Goodwin’s career, Winston-Salem State University spent four years competing as an NCAA Division I school and competing in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) before returning to the Central Intercollegiate Association (CIAA). Goodwin has served as the primary contact for all of the NCAA Division II athletics teams at the university.
 
Goodwin went to WSSU following a four-and-a-half year stint at South Carolina State University where he served as the Assistant Athletic Media Relations Director. During his tenure at South Carolina State University Goodwin was the primary athletic media relations contact for soccer, volleyball, women's basketball, women's golf, softball, and bowling. He also assisted with football, cross country, track & field, men's basketball, and men's golf. Goodwin also served as the primary designer for all of SCSU's media guides and publications.
Prior to joining the South Carolina State University staff Goodwin spent one year as the assistant sports information director at Charleston Southern University where he carried out similar duties. He also spent one year as a desk editor at The Times and Democrat in Orangeburg, S.C.
Goodwin is a 1997 graduate of Charleston Southern University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. He is a native of Bowman, South Carolina where he now resides.
