Columbia, SC- Claflin University Panthers (7-10) avenged an earlier season loss to the Tigers of Benedict College (8-6) 77-58, before a standing room only crowd, in the Benjamin E. Mayes Health and Physical Education Center, on the campus of Benedict College.

Holding on to a 1 point halftime lead, the Panthers came roaring out in the second half scoring the first six points of the half, for a 34-28 lead. Claflin continued to sizzle from the outside building their largest lead of the game 16 points, 55-39 with 7:20 remaining.  Benedict cut the Panther lead under 10 points 57-48 with a 9-2 run.  Claflin matched the run with a 6-0 run to go up by 15 points, 63-48, with 2:33 left.  The Panthers were no through yet outscoring Benedict 11-4 the rest of the way to win going away by the final score of 77-58.
Terrence Bowman opened the game with a 3 point shot for Claflin.  But just one point at the 17:00 mark would be the only other points Claflin would score for 5:20.  By that time Benedict had built an 8 point advantage 12-4.  Claflin began to find the range and managed to take the lead 18-17 with 5:46 left before intermission.  Claflin's largest lead of the half was 4 points, 21-17 with 4:49 in the first half.  From that period to the end of the half there would be two ties and two lead changes before Claflin managed to take a one point lead with 48 seconds before the half, both teams missed opportunities to score, and the half ended with Claflin holding on to a one point advantage 27-26.  David Glover led Claflin at the break with 7 points, and Edward Green scored 6.  Benedict was led by Antrjuan Albright with 11 points.
