Claflin Men’s Basketball Falls to Lee University in the SIAC/GSC Challenge

Box Score Carrollton, Ga.—The Claflin University men's basketball team pulled within one with just over a minute remaining, but could not get over the hump, falling to Lee University by three, 63-66, in their final game of the SIAC/GSC Challenge presented by Wentz Financial which was hosted by the University of West Georgia.  With the loss the Panthers fall to 0-2 on the season.
 
Carlton Johnson paced Claflin with 20 points, including 14-of-16 from the charity stripe.  The Panthers, who was down by as many as 14 in the first half, had three players to finish in double-digits as Kendall Jackson scored 14 and Montel Williams contributed 11 points in the contest. Claflin also received solid play from Arthur Talley who scored eight points with four rebounds and two blocks.  Fare'al Walker was the leading rebounder for the Panthers with seven.
 
Lee University was led by Cory Billingsley who finished the game with a double-double, 23 points-11 rebounds.  Chase Cullen scored 10 points for the Flames who improved to 2-0 on the early season.
 
The Flames led the contest at the half by 12, 39-27.
 
Claflin will return to action in six days when they host St. Augustine's University next Saturday, Nov. 22.  It will be Homecoming for the Panthers.  Tip-off is set for 3:30 p.m. in Tullis Arena at the Jonas T. Kennedy Health and Physical Education Center on the campus of Claflin University.
