Orangeburg, S.C.—The Claflin University men's basketball team closed out its 2014-15 non-conference play with an 85-66 win over Florida Tech.  The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Panthers who improved to 3-6 on the season.

After exchanging baskets over the first four-plus minutes, Claflin took control of the contest.  A layup by Adolph Caldwell at the 16:28 mark gave the Panthers a two-point lead, 10-8, that was never relinquished.  Claflin used a 7-1 run over the next four minutes to push its lead to eight, 17-9, with 12:49 remaining in the half.  The Panthers would enjoy a 13 point lead (31-18) before heading into intermission with a 10-point lead, 43-33.

Claflin maintained the momentum to start the second half, as they scored the first 8-of-12 points in the final stanza to increase its lead to 16, 51-35, with just under 17 minutes remaining.  Florida Tech (9-2) managed to pull within nine, 55-46, at the 13:15 mark but could not any closer.  The Panthers would push its lead to 17 (73-56) but Florida Tech had one more run left.  The Florida Tech Panthers cut the deficit to 12, 78-66, with 2:25 remaining, but Claflin closed the game on a 7-0 run en route to the 19 point victory.
