Claflin Panthers Wins Second Straight SIAC Road Game

Fort Valley, Ga.—Ryan McNeill-Moses recorded his second straight double-double, 14 points-13 rebounds along with three blocks, as the Claflin Panthers defeated Fort Valley State 71-67 for its second straight Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) road win.  The win puts the Panthers at 10-10 overall and 7-4 in the SIAC.  The Wildcats fall to 1-16 overall and 1-9 in the SIAC.
 
Claflin had four players to score in double-figures led by Arthur Talley with 19, 11 of which came in the first half.  Fare'al Walker and Patrell Rogers both came off the bench to score in double-figures with 12 and 11, respectively.  Talley and Walker were equally as solid on the boards with eight and seven, respectively.  The Panthers, who shot 60 percent from the charity stripe, led by two at the half 28-26.
 
Fort Valley State was led by Derrick Spears who scored 12 of his team high 17 in the second half.  Tyrone Brinson scored 15 points with a team-high eight rebounds while Montreal Holley scored 13 points in the loss.  Ralph Wilson was solid off the bench scoring six points and joining Holley with a team-high eight rebounds.
 
Claflin will return home for one game on Monday, Feb. 3 when they host in-state rivals Benedict.  Tip-off is approximately 7:30 p.m. in Tullis Arena.
