Claflin Defeats Norwich in Non-Conference Softball Matchup

Vero Beach, Fla.—The Claflin University softball team defeated Norwich, 8-2, in its opening game of the Treasure Coast Spring Invitational.  The Lady Panthers improves to 10-4 overall while Norwich, who is playing in just its second game of the season, falls to 0-2.
 
Claflin put up nine hits with eight runs and five RBI's en route to the six run victory.
 
The Lady Panthers was led by Markea Sheppard with three hits. Chelsea Hall had five stolen bases while Nyesha Arnold picked up her ninth win of the season.
 
The scoring for Claflin was very balanced as eight-of-nine batters crossed the plate in the victory.  Hall, Sheppard, Arnold, Kayla Sanderson, Courtney Burns, Alice Boone, Amaris Gilchrease and Daisza Daniel all scored one run each in the contest.  Daniel also knocked out a double in the win.
 
Claflin will Penn State, tomorrow, Tuesday, March 10, at 11 a.m. in its final game of the Spring Invitational.
