Claflin Defeats Tuskegee in SIAC Men’s Basketball Action

Orangeburg, SC (Jan. 4) Austin Lawton recorded his second straight double-double, 17 points-10 rebounds, as the Claflin University men's basketball team defeated Tuskegee, 72-61, to pick up its first Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) win of the season.  The victory pushes the Panthers to 5-8 overall and 1-4 in the SIAC.  With the loss, Tuskegee falls to 6-5 overall and 2-2 in the SIAC.
 
The Panthers finished the game with three players in double-figures as Ryan McNeill-Moses scored 17 and Karee Watson contributed 10.  Triston Thompson scored nine points with five assists while Brian Townsend came off the bench to pull in seven rebounds in the win.
 
Tuskegee was led by Daniel Roach with a game-high 18 points.  Camden Foster scored 11 points with six rebounds and James Eads contributed nine points in the loss.
 
The Panthers owned a 33-19 lead at intermission.
 
Claflin will hit the road for the next two games beginning this Saturday, Jan. 7 at Stillman.  The Panthers will face LeMoyne-Owen next Monday, Jan. 9 before returning home Saturday, Jan. 16 when they host Spring Hill College.
