Orangeburg, S.C. – Ryan McNeill-Moses led five players in double-figures with 15 points as the Claflin University Panthers defeated Clark Atlanta 94-70

Orangeburg, S.C. – Ryan McNeill-Moses led five players in double-figures with 15 points as the Claflin University Panthers defeated Clark Atlanta 94-70 Saturday in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) contest at the Tullis Arena.
 
With the regular-season-ending victory, Claflin finished 14-12 overall and 10-8 in conference play. The Panthers will participate in the SIAC Men's Basketball Tournament, slated for Feb. 29- Mar. 5 at the Bill Harris Arena in Birmingham, Ala.
 
The contest also honored three Panthers as part of Senior Day: Karee Watson, Adolph Caldwell and James Brown.
 
Following McNeill-Moses in the scoring column for Claflin was Caldwell with 14 points and five assists. Watson and De'shon Nails chipped in 13 points each, while Patrell Rogers added 11.  Triston Thompson had eight points and five assists in the win.
 
Clark Atlanta, now 9-19 and 7-11 in the SIAC, was led by Damien Enock with a game-high 23 points. Lawrance Freeman added 17 points.
 
In the second half, the Panthers broke open a close contest behind the offensive scoring of McNeill-Moses and Caldwell. The duo combined for 19 points during the 21-15 surge by Claflin over a 6-1/2 minute period.  McNeill-Moses tallied 10 points during the run, including eight straight. He capped off the run with an inside basket, giving the Panthers an 11-point cushion at 61-50 with 10:23 left.  Caldwell fired in nine points during the run.
 
Clark Atlanta pulled within eight points on its next possession, the closest it would get the remainder of the game. De'shon Nail quickly pushed the lead back to 11 at 64-53 on a three-pointer with 9:51 left.
 
Claflin opened up a 24-point advantage at 87-63 lead with 3:10 left on a pair of free throws from Watson.
 
In the first half, Claflin held the lead for the first seven minutes at 9-8. The next seven would see Clark Atlanta holding the upper hand at 21-20 with 5:51 left in the period.
 
There would be two ties over the next three minutes, the last being at 28-28 with 2:19 showing on the game clock.
 
Rogers broke the tie, completing the old-fashion three-point play with 1:37 remaining. The scoring play gave the Panthers a 31-28 lead. He later provided Claflin its biggest lead of the half at 33-28 with a layup at the 1:21 mark.
 
Tim Sanders knocked down a three-pointer as time expired in the opening half, pulling Clark Atlanta to within 34-33 at the intermission.
