Claflin Sweeps Paine in Softball Doubleheader

Lady Panthers Sweep Conference Opening Series

Augusta Ga.—The Claflin University softball team swept Paine College, 12-0 and 14-5, in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) doubleheader.  With the doubleheader win, the Lady Panthers completes the three-game series sweep of Paine and improves to 7-6 overall and 3-0 in the SIAC.
 
Paine drops to 0-3 overall and 0-3 in the SIAC.
 
Kayla Cato scored four runs with two hits including a homerun with four RBI's on the day to lead Claflin on the day.  LaKaylin Lee scored three runs with five hits and five RBI's and Chelsea Hall had three runs with two hits and two RBI's over the doubleheader.
 
Tiaria Norman pitched all five innings in Game One allowing only two walks to pick up the victory.  Shaquailla German, who hit a homerun in the second game, pitched six innings to pick up the Game Two win.
 
Rickary Holloman scored two runs off two hits with one walk to lead Paine in Game Two.  Jasmine Hines and Shawna Wilson were the losing pitcher in Game One and Two, respectively for Paine.
 
Claflin will host North Greenville in a 3 p.m. non-conference doubleheader at the Adden Street Field, Tuesday, March 1.
