Claflin Cruise Past Fort Valley State in SIAC Softball Doubleheader

Fort Valley, Ga. (3-25-17) – Claflin University defeated Fort Valley State University Saturday (March 25) in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) doubleheader, winning game one 23-1 and shutting out the Lady Wildcats 11-0.
 
The third game of the conference series scheduled for Sunday (March 26) was cancelled due to inclement weather.
 
Senior Nyesha Arnold led the charge for Claflin (17-4, 7-2 SIAC) going 2-for-3 with three runs and a three RBIs.
 
Senior Chelsea Hall went 2-for-3 with a run and a stolen base and sophomore Jamelah Thomas went 2-for-3 with one run in the contest.
 
Tavy Dallas scored Fort Valley State (3-18, 3-10 SIAC) only run on the day.
 
Yemaya Rich was the winning pitcher in game one and Bri Jackson was credited with the loss.
 
Sophomore LaKaylin Lee, who had a homerun in game one and two, was 2-for-3 with runs and two RBIs to lead the Lady Panthers in game two.
 
Sophomore Shaquailla German went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs while Kaela Robinson was also 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs in game two.  Robinson also knocked out a homerun in game two.
 
Tiaria Norman picked up her ninth win of the season. Ten Johnson was the losing pitcher in game two.
 
Claflin will host USC-Aiken in a mid-week non-conference doubleheader this Wednesday (March 29).  First pitch is set for 3 p.m. at Adden Street Field.
