Claflin Defeats Clark Atlanta in a SIAC Softball Doubleheader

Lady Panthers Secure Series Win

Atlanta, Ga.—The Claflin University softball team defeated Clark Atlanta, 12-3 and 4-2, in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) doubleheader at the CAU Softball Field in Atlanta.  With the doubleheader sweep, the Lady Panthers secures the series win.
 
The final game of the series will be played tomorrow, Sunday (Apr. 2), at the CAU Field.  First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
 
Senior Chelsea Hall went a 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBIs in game one.  Chelise Morman scored two runs with one hit and Kayla Cato had two hits, including a homerun, with one run and four RBIs for Claflin, who improved to 20-15 overall and 8-2 in the SIAC).
 
Tiaria Norman pitched all five innings of game one en route to securing the win.
 
Cato continued to play solid in game two, finishing with one hit, a double, with one run.
 
Shaquailla German, who pitched a complete game, had three hits with one run and two RBIs.
 
Norman finished the game with two hits, including a homerun, with two RBIs.
 
After Sunday's game, Claflin will return home next weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Apr. 8 and 9, when they host Benedict College.
