Claflin Softball Falls to Francis Marion in 2018 Season Opener

Florence, S.C.—The Claflin University softball team fell to Francis Marion, 15-0 and 13-0, on opening day of the 2018 season.  The Loss drops the Lady Panthers to 0-2 to start the season.  Francis Marion, who also opened the season today, improved to 2-0.
 
Claflin could not find any offense over the doubleheader, posting just two hits on the day compared to 22 total hits by Francis Marion.
 
LaKaylin Lee put up the Lady Panthers lone hit in game one while Tiaria Norman put up the single hit for Claflin in game two.
 
Lee and Norman were also the losing pitchers in games one and two, respectively.
 
Claflin will return to action on Tuesday, Feb. 6 when they host Newberry College in their 2018 home-opener.  First pitch for game one of the doubleheader is set for 2 p.m. while game two is set for a 4 p.m. first pitch.  The game was originally scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 7 at the same time.
 
The Lady Panthers game schedule for Sunday, Feb. 4 vs Coker College has been cancelled due to impending inclement weather.
