Claflin Split Non-conference Doubleheader with North Greenville

Tigerville, S.C. (3-3-18) – Claflin University softball team split a non-conference doubleheader with North Greenville winning game one 3-1 and dropping game two 17-1.
 
With the split, the Lady Panthers record moves to 5-13 while North Greenville improves to 10-6 on the season.
 
LaKaylin Lee finished the day 3-for-6 with three runs and two stolen bases.
 
Kayla Cato went 2-for-3 with a double and one run and Tiaria Norman had one hit with a RBI in game one, while Chelise Morman finished the day with two hits and a RBI.  Jasmine Squirewell had a single and RBI in game one while Jada Ames had one hit in game two.
 
Claflin opened scoring in game one as Lee scored off a double by Lee in the first inning.
 
The score remained 1-0 until the fifth inning when Lee scored the Lady Panthers second run of an RBI single by Morman. 
 
Cato led off the 6th inning with a double then scored off a single my Jasmine Squirewell and an error by North Greenville third baseman to put Claflin up 3-0.
 
Jaelin Griffin homered to left field in the bottom of the sixth for the Crusaders only run of the game.
 
Game two belonged to North Greenville.
 
After the Lady Panthers scored one run in the top of the first in game two, the Crusaders erupted for three runs in the first, three in the second and 11 in the third en route to the 17-1 win.
 
Claflin will return to action on Wednesday, Mar. 7, when they host Bloomfield College in a non-conference doubleheader.   First pitch is set for 2 p.m. at the Adden Street Field in Orangeburg.
