Claflin Split Non-conference Double Header with USC Aiken

Orangeburg, S.C. (2-25-19) – The Claflin University softball team split a non-conference double header with USC Aiken, dropping game one 7-2 and winning game two 7-6, Monday (Feb. 25) at Adden Street Field in Orangeburg, SC.
 
With the split, Claflin overall record goes to 8-11, USC Aiken moves to 5-7 on the season.
 
The double header was a tale of two games as the Claflin had minimal offense in the first game.  The Lady finished with only three hits and two runs while leaving five on base, three in scoring position.
 
Claflin regrouped in game two, recording nine total hits, including a double and triple, en route to the 7-6 win.
 
LaKaylin Lee and Chaston Huntly paced the Lady Panthers in the double header. Lee had one hit in game one and went 2-for-3 in game two with a run and a RBI.  Huntly was the top offensive producer with one hit in game one and 2-for-3 with a triple, a run and three RBIs in game two.
 
Kadasia Damon and Kayla Cato scored one run each in game one for Claflin.  Cato went 2-for-3 with a run and a RBI in game two.
 
Lee, who went five and a third innings, giving up seven runs and eight hits was the loser of game.  Bre'Zhay Chambers went four innings, allowing five runs with four hits was the winner in game two.  Shania Thomas came on in relief in the top of the fifth picked up her second save of the season.
 
The Lady Panthers will return to action this Saturday, March 2 when they host Converse College in a non-conference double header.  First pitch for game one is set for 1 p.m.
