Claflin Softball Falls to Augusta Final Regular Season Game

Orangeburg, S.C. – The Claflin University softball team closed out its 2019 regular season with a double header loss to Augusta University, Tuesday, Apr. 23 at the Adden Street Field in Orangeburg.  The Lady Panthers fell to the Jaguars 8-0 in game one and 4-0 in game two.
 
In game one Augusta, who is now 11-35 on the season, out-hit Claflin 10-2 en route to the shout-out win.  LaKaylin Lee and Kadasia Damon were the only two Lady Panthers to record a hit game one
 
Lauren Prescott led Augusta with three hits, including two doubles and two RBIs.  Meredith McLendon went two-for-three with two runs and two RBIs.
 
Bre'Zhay Chambers went one and two-thirds innings, giving up seven run, six earned, with one strikeout.
 
Katy Caldwell was the winning pitcher in game one for Augusta.
 
Claflin was slightly more competitive in game two, with several opportunities to score runs.  The Lady Panthers placed six runners on the pads; four via hits, one via a walk and one via hit-by-pitch.
 
Claflin did not take advantage of its opportunities, leaving five runners on base, two in scoring position.
 
Augusta used eight hits and one Claflin error to score its four runs in the contest.
                                                                                                           
The Lady Panthers got hits in game two from Kayla Cato, Sametra Duck, Jada Ames and Marion Goins.
 
McLendon and Bella Fernandez had two hits each for the Jaguars.
 
Chambers was the losing pitcher for Claflin in game two and Morgan Hunter was the winner in game two for Augusta.
