WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Claflin University men's and women's track & field teams continue to show some dramatic improvements with some great performances at the Camel City Invitational this weekend. Both the men's and women's teams had some individual performances that stood out over the weekend.

"The meet was good. We had some student-athletes to step up," said Claflin track & field head coach Garon Jackson. "Our focus is to improve each meet and prepare for the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Championship. Overall, I'm pleased with where we are."

The Lady Panthers continued to show some great performances, especially on the track. Freshman Zoe Adams set the tone for both teams when she ran a 56.48 in the women's 400m dash. The time improved on her spot with the top women's 400m time in the CIAA in addition to being an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time. With the effort, she placed second in the women's seeded 400m dash finals. Her time places her in the top 25 nationally. She was also impressive in the women's 200m dash where she also placed second with a season-best 25.59. Her time is currently the best in the CIAA. Fellow freshman Jonnica Fuller placed ninth in the women's 60m dash qualifying finals with an 8.11.

The Panthers also saw some great efforts as well. The trio of sophomore Chandar Anderson, junior Jaiden Henderson, and sophomore Jermaine Harris all improved their standings within the CIAA. Henderson placed 14th in the men's 200m finals with a 23.32 while Anderson placed 10th in the men's 400m dash finals with a 51.67. Harris led the way for the Panthers in field events with a ninth place finish in the men's high jump with a 6'0.75" (1.85m) jump. Freshman Jocolbi Morgan placed third in the men's long jump with a 22'5.25" (6.84m) jump.

With the effort, the Panthers and Lady Panthers will return to the JDL Fast Track to compete in the JDL Multi & Track Meet on February 7th and 8th.
