SANTEE, SC - The second edition of the PAWSUp Golf Classic was a rousing success with a full day of fun, food, and golf in support of Lady Panthers and Panthers student-athletes. In addition to playing on one of the most scenic courses in South Carolina, participants in the classic were treated to some beautiful weather for the great day of competition.

After getting the event started with a great reception, Thursday evening, the attention turned to a terrific day of fun and competition on the course. When the dust settled, there was a championship team announced from each flight. The team of Greg Elder, Keisha Elder, Doug Robinson, Sr., and Doug Robinson, Jr. earned the championship of the first flight with a combined score of 58. The team of Rudy Richmon, Rodney Hudson, Joe Fields, and Jeff Hammon came in a close second with a 59. In the Flight 2, it was the team of Dalton Tresvant, Jimmy Richardson, Dale Gibson, and Byron Wallace to take the flight championship with a 65. While the team of Valerie Aikens, Henry Motes, Melvin Williams, and Darryl Murphy, also matched them with a 65, the prior team was awarded first place due to difficulty of holes. Prizes were also awarded for longest drive and closest to the pin for both male and female participants.

In total, 17 teams took part in the classic tournament and provided their support for the student-athletes of Claflin University. Several different supporters and organizations showed their support through donations and signage the golf tournament. Following the tournament, food was provided by Burgess Family BBQ & Catering.
