WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Claflin University men's and women's indoor track & field teams will be on the prowl for championships when the teams take part in the 2023 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Men's & Women's Track & Field Championship Meet, Sunday at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. With conference leaders taking the track in several events, the Lady Panthers and Panthers will look to be in contention when the dust settles, Monday evening.

For the Lady Panthers, there will be some familiar faces who are expected to contend for the top spots on the medal stands. Sophomore Zoe Adams, the reigning women's 400m dash champion, once again leads the CIAA in the women's 400m dash with a 56.86 earlier this season. She is also ranked third in the conference in the women's 200m dash. The Lady Panthers' 4x400m relay team is also poised for a big day as they are currently ranked fourth in the conference after running a 4:01.80 at the South Carolina Invitational.

The Panthers will look to a mixture of youth and experience to lead the way this weekend. The Panthers will have a cast of youngsters leading the way in the middle distance events. Freshman Reginald Gore will look to have a weekend as he heads in as the leader in the men's 800m run and the men's mile run. He currently leads the CIAA with a 1:55.24 in the men's 800m run and he leads the men's mile with a 4:32.07. Sophomore Zion Murry is currently ranked second in the men's 800m run with a 1:57.77. Claflin junior Chandar Anderson is the favorite in the men's 400m dash after he ran a 48.97 at the Carolina Challenge. There will also be high expectations for the Panthers' 4x400m relay team as the squad leads the CIAA with a 3:18.86.
