Lady Panthers Post Strong Showings at CSU Buccaneer Invitational
CHARLESTON, SC - The Claflin University men's and women's track & field teams made a return to competition, Friday when the teams took competed in the CSU Buccaneer Invitational hosted by Charleston Southern University.
The Lady Panthers had a solid overall day with some impressive individual performances. Lady Panthers sophomore
Zoe Adams continued her terrific career when she placed second in the women's 400m run with a 56.82. Senior
Jonnica Fuller placed fifth in the event with a 1:00.13. Freshman sprinter
Pheijana Burnside added a third-place finish in the women's 100m hurdles when the ran a 15.60. Sophomore
Staci Smith placed fourth in the women's 100m dash with a 12.56 while sophomore
Madison McDonald added a sixth place finish in the women's 800m run with a 2:40.51.
The Panthers had an equally impressive showing at the meet as well. Freshman Reginald Gore continues to show why he is among the top newcomers to the team when he won the men's 800m run with a 1:55.76. Sophomore Zion Murry added a third place finish in the event with a 1:56.36. Sophomore Darius Holmes had a strong showing as well when he placed second in the men's 110m hurdles with a 15.57. Junior Quandarious Patrick placed third with a 15.95. Freshman Jaevon Riley placed second in the men's 400m hurdles with a 55.74. Sophomore Jocolbi Morgan placed second in the men's long jump when he notched a 23'2.75" (7.08m) jump.
The two teams will return to action on March 24
