Lady Panthers Make Solid Return to Action at Gamecock Challenge
COLUMBIA, SC - The Claflin University men's and women's cross-country team returned to the courses, Friday morning when the teams took part in the 2023 Gamecock Challenge. The Lady Panthers took part in the women's 5K run while the Panthers took part in the men's 6K run.
The Lady Panthers continued to show some improvement at the meet. Claflin junior Madison Montgomery led the way for the team when she placed 39
th with a 21:19.3. Senior
Jonnica Fuller added a 46
th place finish when she ran a 24:12.7. Sophomore
Pheijana Burnside placed 50
th with a 25:40.5. Senior
Justice Bell rounded out the team's day when she placed 52
nd with a 32:48.0.
The Panthers had a solid day as well. Claflin sophomore Reginald Gore led the way with a 25
th place finish in 21:53.7. Fellow sophomore Jakarriez Sanders was a close 26
th when the ran a 21:56.8. Junior Zion Murry placed 30
th with a 23:25.5 while sophomore Isaiah Bowman placed 35
th with a 26:03.1. Sophomore Xavier Burrell closed out the Panthers' efforts with a 26:27.9.
The Claflin University men's and women's cross-country teams will return to action on Friday, October 3
