Obanla, Whitehead, III, Earn CIAA Weekly Honors

John Whitehead, III, were both honored when the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) announced its players of the week.
Obanla was named the Food Lion CIAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week. It was his performance in leading the Panthers to the tournament championship. He began the week with a double-double 18 points and 11 rebounds at Lincoln (Pa.). He then added 16 points against Albany State to open the tournament and he added a near double-double with eight points and nine rebounds against Shaw. For the week, he totaled 42 points in three games.
Not to be left out, fellow senior guard
John Whitehead, III, was named the Food Lion CIAA Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts this week. He led the Panthers' defensive efforts with 15 total rebounds, including eight defensive rebounds. He also added a block and four steals during the week for the Panthers. Three of his steals came in a win over Albany State to open the YES United States Virgin Islands HBCU Classic Tournament.
The Claflin Panthers will return to action, Thursday evening, when the team hosts the Elizabeth City State Vikings in a 5:00 p.m. game at the Edward L. Tullis Arena.
