COLUMBIA, SC - The Claflin Lady Panthers (2-4) got back on track in a big way with a dominating 16-3 win over the Allen (S.C.) Yellowjackets (0-4), Sunday. The team took control of the game from the first pitch and never looked back as they cruised to the victory.
The Lady Panthers were especially dominating at the plate with some terrific hitting in the win. As a team, the Lady Panthers totaled 18 hits, including three home runs in the win. Sophomore short stop
Cydney Cooper led the way with a three-for-three batting performance with four runs scored and a run batted in (RBI). Freshman catcher
Jeniah Williams added at four-for-four batting effort with three runs scored and two RBI. Junior pitcher
Breyanna Collins, freshman first base
Mikah Fluellen, and freshman outfielder
Jordan Tolen each recorded home runs as well.
Collins (1-0) got the start and took the pitching win. She finished the game with just three runs allowed (two earned) on six total hits. She also added four strikeouts with no walks.
With the win, the Lady Panthers improve to 2-4 overall. The team will return to action, Tuesday when they return to Columbia, South Carolina to take on the Columbia International Rams.
