Panthers 16th in First USTFCCCA Outdoor National Ranking of the Season
NEW ORLEANS, LA - The Claflin University Panthers got off to a hot start in the 2024 outdoor track & field season and the effort has paid off when the team was ranked 16
th in the United States Track & Field/Cross County Coaches Association's (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II Men's Outdoor Track & Field National Ranking. When the first ranking was released, the Panthers earned a spot at #16.
After finishing the 2023 season as an unranked team, the Panthers totaled 113.80 points to break into the top 20 in the first released ranking of the season. The Panthers have had some tremendous success on the track to earn their ranking. Claflin senior
Chandar Anderson is currently ranked sixth in the nation in the men's 400m dash after running a 47.06 at the UCF Black & Gold Invitational while sophomore
Jaevon Riley is currently ranked sixth in the men's 400m hurdles with a 52.15 at the Weems-Baskin Invitational. The Panthers' 4x400m relay team that includes Anderson and Riley along with sophomore
Jonathan Flemister and junior
Marcus Thomason that ran a 3:11.37 to currently rank fourth in the nation. Claflin junior jumper
Jocolbi Morgan is currently ranked seventh nationally with a 48'2.75" (14.70m) mark at the UCF Black & Gold Invitational.
The Panthers will return to action on April 6
