ORANGEBURG, SC - The Claflin Lady Panthers (14-18) got their sixth straight win, Wednesday afternoon when the team took an 8-3 win over the Paine Lions (14-18). After holding a 4-3 lead over the Lions heading into the sixth inning, the Lady Panthers broke out with four sixth inning runs to claim the victory.
As a team, the Lady Panthers had a great day at the plate. The team totaled 13 hits in the game. Claflin junior left fielder
Kennedy Baskerville led the way, going three-for-four at the plate with a double and a run batted in (RBI). Senior second base
Jaelyn Jackson added a two-for-four batting performance with two runs scored and an RBI.
Claflin freshman
Ava Brown (3-2) got the pitching win. She started the game and she went five full innings and she finished with three runs allowed (one earned) and two strikeouts. Fellow freshman
Katelyn Grissom came in for the save. She threw two innings with no runs allowed.
With the win, the Lady Panthers improve to 14-18 overall. The team will return to action this weekend when they head to Fayetteville, North Carolina to take on the Fayetteville State Broncos in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division doubleheader, Saturday.
