Lady Panthers to Open 2024 CIAA Softball Tournament as Third Seed
CHARLOTTE, NC - The Claflin University Lady Panthers wrapped up the 2024 regular season and the team is geared up to take part in the 2024 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Softball Championship Tournament this weekend. When the tournament brackets were announced, the Lady Panthers earned a third-place seed in the CIAA Southern Division.
The Lady Panthers earned the seeding after completing the 2024 regular season with a 16-21 overall record and a 9-7 record in CIAA play. The team completed the regular season with a 6-4 record in CIAA Southern Division play. As the third seed from the CIAA Southern Division, the Lady Panthers are slated to take on the Lincoln (Pa.) Lady Lions, the second seed from the CIAA Northern Division. The Lady Lions finished the 2024 regular season with a 16-24 overall record and a 12-4 record in CIAA play. The team also went 7-3 in CIAA Northern Division play.
Last season, the Lady Panthers reached the championship final before taking an 8-2 loss to eventual champion Bowie State. The Lady Panthers entered the 2023 CIAA Softball Championship Tournament as the top seed from the CIAA Southern Division.
First pitch between the Lady Panthers and Lady Lions is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. at the Glen Allen Softball Complex in Henrico, Virginia. The winner of the game will advance in the winner's bracket and will compete at 4:00 p.m.
