Five Panthers Named to 2024 USTFCCCA All-Region Team

NEW ORLEANS, LA - The United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2024 All-Region Teams, Friday afternoon. The USTFCCA NCAA Division II All-Region Team recognizes the top five ranked individuals in each event as well as the members of the top three ranked relay teams. When the announcement was made, there were five Panthers among the honorees.
 
It was on the track where the Panthers raked in the most honors. The Panthers' 4x100m relay and the 4x400m relay teams were honored as members of the USTFCCCA All-Region Team for ranking among the top three in the region. The Panthers' 4x400m relay team is the second best in the region after running a 3:09.30 at the Lee University Last Chance Meet. The time earned the squad a spot in the 2024 NCAA Division II Men's Outdoor Track & Field National Championship Meet. The Panthers' 4x100m relay team has the third best time in the region with a 40.72 at the 2024 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship Meet.
 
Sophomore Jaevon Riley led the way as he was honored for his performances in the men's 400m hurdles, where he was also selected for competition in the 2024 NCAA Division II Men's Outdoor Track & Field National Championship Meet. He ran the second-best time in the region with a 51.69 at the 2024 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship Meet. He was also an all-region selection in the men's 400m dash where he ran the second-best time with a 47.57 at the 2024 CIAA Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship Meet. Riley was also selected as a member of the Panthers' 4x100m relay team and 4x400m relay team.
 
Fellow sophomore Jonathan Flemister was also selected in a pair of events as well. He was honored for his efforts in the men's 100m and 200m dash. He ranked third in the men's 100m dash with a 10.42 at the 2024 CIAA Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship Meet. He also ranked third in the men's 200m dash with a 21.10 at the 2024 CIAA Men's Outdoor Track & Field Meet. He is also a member of the Panthers' 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams.
 
Senior Chandar Anderson is also recognized for his performance in the men's 400m dash when he ran a 47.06, the top time in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region. He is also a member of the Panthers' 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams.
 
Junior Zion Murry was selected as a member of the Panthers' 4x400m relay team.
 
Claflin junior Jocolbi Morgan is the sole field events honoree for the Panthers. He earned all-region honors in three different events. He tied for the top mark in the region in the men's high jump with a 6'10.25" (2.09m) leap at the 2024 CIAA Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship Meet. He also has the top mark in the region in the men's triple jump after a 48'10.25" (14.89m) leap at the 2024 CIAA Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship Meet. He is ranked fifth in the men's long jump with a 23'.11.5" (7.30m) leap at the Sharonda Coleman-Singleton Classic.
 
After collecting region honors, the Panthers will turn their attention to the national stage when Riley and the Panthers' 4x400m relay team have been selected to take part in the 2024 NCAA Division II Men's Outdoor Track & Field National Championship Meet. The meet will be held at Welch Stadium in Emporia, Kansas from May 23rd - 25th.
