Riley, 4x400m Relay Earn USTFCCCA All-American Honors
NEW ORLEANS, LA - After a terrific 2024 outdoor track & field season, the honors are coming in for the Claflin University men's track & field team. On Tuesday, Claflin sophomore hurdler
Jaevon Riley was named a first team All-American by the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) while the Panthers' 4x400m relay team earned second team USTFCCCA All-American honors. After earning their spots in the 2024 NCAA Division II Men's Outdoor Track & Field National Championship, the Panthers responded in a big way and earned their All-American honors.
Riley earned the first team All-American honors for his performance in the men's 400m hurdles. After reaching the finals with a 51.84 in the preliminaries of the event, he placed sixth in the finals with a personal record 51.69. By placing sixth, Riley earned All-American honors by virtue of placing among the top-eight in his respective event.
The Panthers' 4x400m relay team earned their second team All-American honors after their great showing at the national championship meet. The Panthers placed 10
th in the event preliminaries with a 3:10.38. With their 10
th place finish, the Panthers earned second team USTFCCCA All-American honors by placing among the top 10 in a relay event.
The honors came after an extremely impressive season for the Panthers who finished the season as Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Men's Outdoor Track & Field National Championship Runners-Up and sent an individual and a relay team to the 2024 NCAA Division II Men's Outdoor Track & Field National Championship Meet.
