Several Lady Panthers Post Top-10 Finishes at Gamecock Opener
COLUMBIA, SC - The Claflin Lady Panthers kicked off 2025 with some great efforts at the Gamecock Opener. Both on the track and in field efforts, the Lady Panthers had several terrific performances at the meet.
On the track, the Lady Panthers were especially impressive in the middle distance events. Sophomore
Jasmine Young set the tone when she placed fifth in the women's 800m run. She ran a 2:35.16 in the event. Sophomore
Jadah Rasool added a sixth place finish in the women's 60m dash with a 7.72. Sophomore
Obiageli Akubude placed seventh in the women's 60m hurdles with an 8.76. The time was an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time as well.
In field events, it was sophomore
Marlayna McBride who led the way. She placed fifth in the women's high jump with a 5'1" (1.55m).
