Atkinson Named CIAA Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week
CHARLOTTE, NC - Claflin sophomore forward
Alex Atkinson was named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week. He earned the honor after putting on a dominating performance in the Panthers' two games at the Earl Lloyd Classic.
In his first two games of the season, Atkinson has compiled six total blocks with 29 total rebounds in two games. He opened the season with 10 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks in a win over the Glenville State Pioneers before following the effort with a 24-point, 21-rebound, and three block performance against the host West Virginia State Yellowjackets.
