Onyekonwu Named CIAA Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week

David Onyekonwu got an early Christmas present this week. He was named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week after a strong week on the court for the Panthers.
He took home the honor after a great effort in the Panthers' three games of the week. He finished the week with nine total blocked shots. He opened the week by early pulling off a double-double in a win at Elizabeth City State. He finished the game with 11 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks. He followed the effort with 18 points, eight rebounds, and four blocked shots against Lynn at the Florida Tech Christmas Classic. He followed the effort with three blocked shots, five rebounds, and two assists against the host Florida Tech Panthers.
With the effort, Onyekonwu closed the 2025 portion of the season with a conference honor. The Panthers will return to action in 2026, when the team hosts the Bowie State Bulldogs on January 8
