Coverson-Springs, Scott Hit Qualifying Marks at Clemson Opener

CLEMSON, SC - The Claflin Lady Panthers got the 2025-26 indoor track & field season started with a bang with some great performances at the Clemson Opener. A pair of Lady Panthers led the way on the track with two NCAA provision qualifying performances at the meet.
 
The Lady Panthers were especially impressive on the track with some terrific efforts. Claflin sophomore Morgan Coverson-Springs led the way when she placed sixth in the women's 60m hurdles with an 8.58. The time is the third best in the nation after the opening weekend. Freshman DaMya Scott also recorded a qualifying time with an 8.73. The time is the sixth in the nation.
 
In field events, junior jumper Jhnyia Knuckles led the way. She placed 11th in the women's long jump with a 17'9" (5.41m) leap in the women's triple jump, followed by placing ninth in the women's triple jump. She recorded a 36'11.5" (11.26m) mark as well.
 
The Lady Panthers will return to action, Sunday when the team heads to Winston-Salem, North Carolina to compete in the JDL Early Bird Invitational.
