Six Lady Panthers Named to USTFCCCA All-Region Team
NEW ORLEANS, LA - When a team has a terrific season, the honors will come in. That was true for the 2024-25 Claflin Lady Panthers indoor track & field team when six team members were named to the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) All-Region Team, Wednesday afternoon. The Lady Panthers earned the honor for ranking among the top five in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region.
The Lady Panthers' 4x400m relay team set the tone for the rest of the honorees. The Claflin team ranked second in the region after running a 3:46.24 at the USC Invite. The team was comprised of senior
Jonnica Fuller, freshman
Brea Childs, sophomore
Obiageli Akubude, and freshman
Morgan Coverson-Springs.
Individually, the Lady Panthers had honorees in both track and field events. Akubude was recognized for ranking third in the women's 60m hurdles with an 8.63 at the 2025 CIAA Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship Meet. Coverson-Springs ranked fourth in the event with an 8.69 at the same meet. Childs was the only Lady Panther who was recognized in multiple events as she ranked fourth in the women's 400m run with a 56.07 at the 2025 CIAA Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship Meet and she ranked fifth in the women's 200m dash with a 24.71 at the 2025 CIAA Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship Meet. Jadah Rasool ranked fifth in the women's 60m dash with a 7.61 at the USC Invite.
In field events, sophomore
Jhnyia Knuckles ranked second in the region in the women's triple jump after recording a 39'3.75" (11.98m) jump at the 2025 CIAA Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship Meet.
