Lady Panthers to Enter 2025 CIAA Softball Championship Tournament as Top Seed
CHARLOTTE, NC - The Claflin Lady Panthers will begin their quest for a conference championship, Thursday when the team competes in the 2025 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Softball Championship Tournament. The team will head into the tournament with a head of steam after claiming the top seed in the CIAA Southern Division.
The Lady Panthers claimed the top seed from the CIAA Southern Division after a terrific regular season. The team compiled a 9-1 record in the CIAA Southern Division to claim the top spot. In overall conference play, the Lady Panthers finished the regular season with a 10-6 record in CIAA play. The team will head into the tournament with a head of steam that included a doubleheader wins over Fayetteville State and Winston-Salem State last weekend.
As the top seed in the division, the Lady Panthers will open the tournament at 12:00 p.m., Thursday. The team will take on the Elizabeth City State Lady Vikings. ECSU will enter the tournament as the fourth seed from the CIAA Northern Division. The team finished the 2025 regular season with a 6-24 overall record and a 5-10 record in CIAA play. When the Lady Panthers and Lady Vikings met earlier in the season, it was Claflin who came out with a dominating 7-0 win at the CIAA Round Up.
The winner of the game will advance in the winner's bracket of the tournament to face the winner of the Bowie State/Shaw game at 4:00 p.m.
The Lady Panthers and the Lady Vikings will take the field, Thursday at noon at the Orangeburg Recreation Complex at 224 Magnolia Village Parkway.
