Panther Sprints to Big Day at VertKlasse Meeting
HIGH POINT, NC - The Claflin Panthers got back on the track for some great performances at the VertKlasse Meeting hosted by High Point University, Saturday. When the dust settled, twoPanther sprinters ran 2025 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field qualifying times and some of the top times in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).
The Claflin sprinters stole the show with some great efforts on the track. Claflin junior
Jonathan Flemister placed eighth in the men's 100m dash with a 10.47. The time is an NCAA Division II qualifying time and it is currently one of the top times in the nation. Flemister wasn't done as he also ran a 20.87 to place fourth in the men's 200m dash. The time is the ninth time in the nation and is also an NCAA Division II qualifying time. Junior sprinter
Jaevon Riley also had a big day when he placed second in the men's 400m hurdles with a 52.31, also an NCAA Division II qualifying time.
The Panthers also saw some solid efforts in field events. Claflin senior
Jocolbi Morgan placed sixth in the men's long jump with a 23' 0.75" (7.03m) jump. He also placed eighth in the men's high jump with a 6'4.75" (1.95m) jump.
The Panthers will return to action next weekend when the team heads to Columbia, South Carolina to take part in the Gamecock Invitational.
