CHARLOTTE, NC - Claflin University sophomore jumper Jhnyia Knuckles was named the Food Lion Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week. The sophomore from Greenville, South Carolina stepped up for a great effort last weekend at the VertKlasse Meeting hosted by High Point University.

At the meet, Knuckles put on a terrific performance in the women's jump events. Her highlight of the weekend came in the women's triple jump where she hit a 40' 3.25" (12.27m) jump. The effort earned a third-place finish for Knuckles and the Lady Panthers. The mark was an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark. She wasn't done as she recorded an 18' 2.5: (5.55m) jump in the women's long jump at the meet.

Knuckles and the Lady Panthers will return to action next weekend when the team heads to nearby Columbia, South Carolina to take part in the Gamecock Invite.
