Six Lady Panthers Named to USTFCCCA All-Region Team
NEW ORLEANS, LA - Six members of the Claflin Lady Panthers outdoor track & field team were named to the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region Team. Awarded at the conclusion of each track & field regular season, the all-region team recognizes the top five (5) individuals and the members of the top three (3) relay teams in each region.
Three Lady Panthers earned honors in individual events. Claflin sophomore
Jhnyia Knuckles set the tone for the team as she was recognized for her performance in the women's long jump and the triple jump. In the triple jump, she finished the regular season ranked second in the region with a 40'6.25" (12.35m) leap at the 2025 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Women's Track & Field Championship Meet. She's also ranked fourth in the region in the women's long jump with a 19'6.25" (5.95m) mark at the meet as well. On the track, Claflin sophomore
Obiageli Akubude earned her spot by ranking second in the women's 100m hurdles with a 13.77 at the Gamecock Invite. In the women's 200m dash, freshman
Morgan Coverson-Springs ranked fifth with a 24.21 at the 2025 CIAA Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship Meet to earn her spot.
In addition to the three individual honorees, the members of the Lady Panthers' 4x400m relay team earned their spot on the all-region team after ranking third in the event. The team ran a 3:47.58 at the 2025 CIAA Women's Track & Field Championship Meet.
