McCollum Earns NAAC Rising Star Award
ORANGEBURG, SC - Claflin University Associate Director of Athletics/Director of Compliance
Dionne McCollum earned a distinct honor, recently. She was named the recipients of the National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC) DIV II Rising Star Award.
The NAAC Rising Star Award recognizes compliance professionals who are emerging leaders within the profession. The award is presented annually to professionals with no more than five years of full-time compliance experience and is considered a rising leader in the field.
McCollum is in her third year as the associate athletic director/compliance director at Claflin University. Since joining the staff at Claflin University, McCollum has fostered an environment for continuous learning for coaches and staff through compliance rules and education sessions, McCollum also expands her capacity for sports supervision and management. It's McCollum's fosters a student-athlete first mentality that makes her efforts so impressive. She oversees the Academic Enhancement Plan, which supports a balance between athletics and academics and ensures that those under her leadership excel both athletically and academically. Nationally, McCollum serves on three NAAC committees and helps lead the Women Leaders in Sports Small College Athletics Circle.
Prior to joining the staff at Claflin University in the spring of 2023, McCollum served as the Director of Athletics at Delta College, a part of Region IXX in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). Her career also included time as the Associate Athletic Director for the District of Columbia Public School and as a member of the women's basketball coaching staff at several schools at the NCAA Division II, NAIA, and the NJCAA Division I levels.
McCollom will be honored at the Opening Ceremonies of the annual NAAC convention on June 9
th. The event will take place at the World Center Marriott Resort in Orlando, Florida.
