Sixty-Four Claflin Student-Athletes Recognized with D2 ADA Academic Achievement Awards
CLEVELAND, OH – Academic success has been a hallmark of Claflin University athletics, and the accolades just keep coming in for the Lady Panthers and Panthers. On Thursday, even more came in when 64 Claflin University student-athletes were recipients of the Division II Athletics Directors Association (D2ADA) Academic Achievement Awards. In its 18
th year, the Academic Achievement Awards recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes in the Division II level in NCAA championship sponsored sports.
To earn the Academic Achievement award, the student-athlete must meet three primary criteria. The student-athlete must:
- Have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher grade-point average.
- Have completed a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work at a two-year and/or four-year institution.
- Have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year.
When the tallies were made, 64 Claflin University student-athletes qualified for the award. The Lady Panthers and Panthers combined to have the most recipients in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).
