Lady Panthers Put On Impressive Showing at Gamecock Opener

COLUMBIA, SC - The Claflin Lady Panthers got 2026 started with a bang when they put on a great performance at the 2026 Gamecock Opener.  On both the track and in the field events, the Lady Panthers put on a
 
On the track, sophomore Brea Childs led the way with a stand out effort. She won the women's 400m dash with an NCAA Division II qualifying time of 56.23. Freshman Camry Braxton was great as well when she placed second in the women's 1000m run.
 
The Lady Panthers were also strong in field events as well. Junior Marlayna McBride placed second in the women's high jump with a 5'1" (5.33m) mark. Fellow junior Jhnya Knuckles added a second place finish in the women's triple jump when she recorded a 37'3" (11.35m) jump.
 
The team will return to action next weekend when they head to Mill Spring, North Carolina to compete in the Tryon International Winter Invitational.
