Panthers Return to Action at Sand Shark Invitational

Bluffton, S.C. — After a short break in competition, the Claflin University men's and women's cross-country teams returned to the course Saturday at the Sand Shark Invitational, hosted by the University of South Carolina Beaufort in Bluffton, South Carolina.

The meet featured a competitive field of NCAA Division I, Division II, and NAIA programs from across the South region. Claflin's men finished sixth, while the women placed ninth.

On the men's side, Devaun Rolle led the Panthers with a 12th-place finish, crossing the line in 28:14.9. Eureka Washington followed in 27th place with a time of 29:39.4. Lavell Irving finished 49th in 31:41.8, followed by Kristopher Robinson in 57th at 33:14.1 and Armon Harris in 60th at 33:43.2.

Jael Pratt paced the women's team, finishing 20th with a time of 21:49.0. Jamiya Carter placed 55th in 26:55.9, while Obiageli Akubude finished 65th in 30:14.4. Brea Childs followed in 66th at 30:15.6,

Allyson Watson placed 67th in 31:00.1, and Zhaire Mack rounded out the group in 68th with a time of 31:44.9.

The Sand Shark Invitational gave the Panthers another chance to test themselves against a diverse regional field as they continue preparing for the championship portion of the season.
