Orangeburg, S.C. - Claflin University Athletics heads into another important week of fall competition, with the cross-country teams preparing for the CIAA Championships and volleyball returning home for a special conference matchup.

Last week, the Lady Panthers opened their schedule with a convincing road sweep over Johnson C. Smith before traveling to Ettrick, Virginia, for CIAA Roundup No. 2. Claflin went 1-5 during the three-day event, finishing the weekend with a record of 11-17 overall and 5-12 in conference play. The men's and women's cross-country teams also competed at the Upstate Invitational in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The men placed 29th, while the women finished 36th.

Cross-Country Heads to CIAA Championships
The men's and women's cross-country teams will turn their attention to the 56th CIAA Cross-Country Championship on Thursday, Oct. 22, at Green Hill Park in Salem, Virginia.

The women's race is scheduled to begin at noon, followed by the men's race at 12:45 p.m. After a season of competition across the region, both teams will aim to finish strong on the conference's championship stage.

Volleyball Returns Home for Dig Pink Night
The Lady Panthers will return to their home court Thursday, Oct. 22, to face Winston-Salem State for a 6 p.m. CIAA matchup.

The contest will feature Claflin's Dig Pink Breast Cancer Awareness theme in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Fans are encouraged to wear pink and join the Lady Panthers in supporting the cause while cheering on the team.

After a demanding stretch on the road, Claflin will have the opportunity to reconnect with its home crowd and continue conference play in front of Panther supporters.

With a conference championship on the line for cross-country and a special home match for volleyball, Thursday promises to be an important day for Claflin Athletics. The Panthers will look to represent the university with pride as the fall season continues.
