MILL SPRING, NC - The Claflin Panthers placed second at the 2026 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Men's Indoor Track & Field Championship Meet. The Panthers put on some dynamic performances on the track and in field events to finish as runners-up in the championship meet.

The Panthers put on several great performances on the track. Several Claflin sprinters took their places atop the podium with numerous first place finishes. Claflin senior Reginald Gore took center stage, claiming two top spots at the meet. He won the men's mile run with a 4:22.59 and he followed the effort by winning the men's 800m run with a 1:54.73. Fellow Claflin senior Jaevon Riley continued to be a dominant force when he won the men's 400m run with a 47.58. The Panthers' distance medley relay team remained the top team in the conference when they won their event with a 10:38.41. There were also several Panthers who reached the podium during the meet as well. Claflin senior Jonathan Flemister placed second in the men's 60m dash with a 6.82 along with another second place finish in the men's 200m dash with a 21.26.

The team's work wasn't limited to the track, however, with some strong showings in field events as well. Claflin freshman Dontavious Bonner won the men's triple jump with a 48'2.5" (14.69m) jump. Sophomore Jeremiah Smith placed third in the men's pole vault with an 11'3.75" (3.45m) mark.
