Riley Runs the Nation's Top 400m Dash, for the Second Time at Carolina Classic

COLUMBIA, SC - The Claflin Panthers put on some of the top performances in the nation when the team competed at the Carolina Classic, hosted by the University of South Carolina. Claflin senior sprinter Jaevon Riley bested his own nation-leading performance when he ran a 46.42 at the meet. He was one of many great efforts by the Panthers.
 
In addition to Riley's efforts, the Panthers had some great showings on the track. Riley won the event while fellow senior Michael Thomas ran a 49.16 while freshman DaMarcus Gaither ran a 49.97. Senior Jonathan Flemister ran a 6.85 in the men's 60m dash, reaching the semifinals of the event. He also ran a 21.73 in the men's 200m dash.
 
In field events,  Claflin sophomore Jeremiah Smith recorded a 10'4" (3.15m) mark in the men's pole vault.
