BALTIMORE, MD - Claflin sophomore center Alex Atkinson will need to add room to his trophy case as he adds another honor this season. On Saturday, he was announced as a member of the 2026 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Men's Basketball Championship All-Tournament Team. While Atkinson only played in one game, it was his dynamic play in that one game that brought him the honor.

In the Panthers' quarterfinal game against the Bluefield State Big Blue, Atkinson put on a terrific performance at both ends of the court. He nearly pulled off a double-double in the game. He led the team with 17 points, three assists, and eight rebounds in the game. Defensively, he added three blocked shots as well.

The all-tournament honor was another in a series of honors for Atkinson. On Sunday, he was announced as the CIAA Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Year along with being named a first-team All-CIAA selection. He is the first Claflin player in school history to earn the CIAA Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Year.
