Atkinson Earns D2CCA Second Team All-Region Honors

ORANGEBURG, SC - Claflin University sophomore forward Alex Atkinson will need to make more room for yet another honor as he was named to the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-Region team, Thursday afternoon. After a terrific season that included numerous honors, he also earned second team all-region honors from the D2CCA.
 
The honor comes among numerous honors that Atkinson has earned. He was named the 2025-26 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Year and he earned first team CIAA All-Conference honors as well.
 
Atkinson has earned the honors after some dynamic play on the court. This season, Atkinson finished the season nearly averaging a double-double for the season. He is the Panthers' leading scorer with 323 total points while he averaged 13.5 points per game. He also pulled in 215 total rebounds and he averaged 9.0 rebounds per game. He was also a defensive force with 35 total blocks. He finished the season leading the CIAA in field goal percentage (60.8%), second in the CIAA in rebounding, and he finished ranked seventh in the CIAA in blocked shots.
