Coverson-Springs Places 2nd in Women's 60m Hurdles at 2026 NCAA Division II Women's Indoor Track & Field National Championship Meet
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA - Claflin University sophomore
Morgan Coverson-Springs etched her name into history when she placed 2
nd in the women's 60m hurdles at the 2026 NCAA Division II Women's indoor Track & Field National Championship Meet. With the finish, she earned the best women's indoor track & field finish in school history, surpassing former Lady Panther Trisana Fairweather's third place finish in the women's 200m dash and 60m dash finals at the 2016 NCAA Division II Women's Indoor Track & Field National Championship Meet.
Coverson-Springs ran an 8.31 to earn a second-place finish at the meet. Her performance came as a surprise to most as she entered the meet with the 10
th best time among the selected competitors. Her time set a personal best for Coverson-Springs' 8.38 on Friday that earned her the spot in the event finals.
Joining Coverson-Springs on the national stage was junior jumper
Jhnyia Knuckles. She placed 16
th in the women's triple jump. She recorded a 38' 9" (11.81m) leap to finish 16
th in the nation.
The national championship meet will bring an end to the 2025-26 indoor track & field season for the Lady Panthers and the team will turn their attentions to the outdoor track & field season.
The team will return to action, Friday, when they head to Orlando, Florida to compete in the Black & Gold Invitational hosted by the University of Central Florida.
