ORANGEBURG, SC – The Claflin Lady Panthers (7-9) put on a strong showing, but the team came up short in a 6-3 loss to the USC Aiken Pacers (18-13), Wednesday afternoon. Though the Lady Panthers were able to notch 10 hits in the game, the team could not get enough runs across the plate to keep pace with their opponents in the hard-fought loss.
The loss came despite a terrific batting day for the Lady Panthers. The team had a great day at the plate with 10 hits. Sophomore
Tania Shoulders led the way after going two-for-four at the plate with a double and a run batted in (RBI). Claflin junior second base
Michaela Cromarty added a two-for-four effort of her own. Junior pitcher
Katelynn Grissom recorded a triple with a run scored.
Grissom (3-5) took the pitching loss. She started the game and recorded two strikeouts.
With the loss, the Lady Panthers fall to 7-9 on the season. The team will return to action later in the day to complete the doubleheader.
