Lady Panthers Secure a 13-0 Win Over Shaw

ORANGEBURG, SC - The Claflin Lady (21-11, 11-1 CIAA) Panthers scored a 13-0 shutout win over the Shaw Lady Bears (6-26, 5-6 CIAA) to close out a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division doubleheader. The win marked the 13th straight win for the Lady Panthers.
 
The Lady Panthers combined a dynamic pitching performance with some great offense to claim the win. In addition to holding the Lady Bears scoreless, the Lady Panthers allowed just three hits in the game. Claflin junior Katelynn Grissom (12-5) got the start and threw all five innings of the game. She finished the game with no runs allowed and three strikeouts.
 
Offensively, the Lady Panthers recorded 11 hits. Claflin senior infielder Aniyah Jackson led the way, going three-for-three at the plate with three runs scored and three runs batted in (RBI). Junior catcher Jeniah Williams added a two-for-three batting effort with a home run, a run scored and three RBI.
 
With the win, the Lady Panthers improve to 21-11 and 11-1 in CIAA play. The team will close out home field when they host the Savannah State Tigers in a non-conference Wednesday doubleheader.
